The Frederick County 4H Therapeutic Riding Program began in April 1984 as a special project under the Frederick County 4H Horse and Pony Club. The program is incorporated in the State of Maryland as a non-profit organization. We provide a seven week session of riding instruction each spring and fall at a nominal fee to our students. The program always has a waiting list of applicants, but our enrollment is limited by money, the availability of volunteers and the time available to hold classes when students can attend.
Our staff consists of therapists, riding instructors, and volunteers who all share the same passion for helping others and a love of horses. As we guide our riders through their sessions, we have the pleasure of watching them enjoy a special experience that benefits them both in body and in mind.

Therapeutic riding is a 501c3 non-profit organization that provides education, socialization, recreation and therapy to more than 72 students in Frederick County Maryland each spring and fall at no charge. Without the donations from our community, and our wonderful volunteers, our program could not exist.
