Thank You For Visiting

The Frederick County 4H Therapeutic Riding Program was established in 1984 to provide a safe and positive horseback riding experience for disabled citizens in Frederick County, MD.

What We Do

Our goal is to provide a safe and enjoyable riding experience that challenges our riders to be as independent as possible.

Our Staff

Our staff consists of therapists, riding instructors, and volunteers who are passionate about horses and improving the lives of others.

Our Facility

Our facilities offer an indoor arena, an outdoor arena, tack room, and a state-of-the-art lift system for our riders.

How To Help

Our program relies solely on volunteers, fundraisers and donations. Consider supporting us through a rewarding volunteer experience or donation. We need you!

Welcome to the Frederick County 4H Therapeutic Riding Program

The mission of the Frederick County 4H Therapeutic Riding Program is to provide a recreational experience and therapeutic regimen to Frederick County citizens with medically certified mental, physical and emotional disabilities, through appropriate equestrian activities.

We proudly provide a safe and positive horseback riding experience for disabled citizens of Frederick County.

The Frederick County 4H Therapeutic Riding Program began in April 1984 as a special project under the Frederick County 4H Horse and Pony Club. The program is incorporated in the State of Maryland as a non-profit organization. We provide a seven week session of riding instruction each spring and fall at no charge to students. The program always has a waiting list of applicants, but our enrollment is limited by money, the availability of volunteers and the time available to hold classes when students can attend. Since 1990 we have been sending athletes to the Maryland State Summer Olympic Games held in Towson, Maryland to compete in the Equestrian Events.
